How do I link a card, and is linking required?

Linking is required for every card. Perqt's whole value — auto-confirming benefits when a transaction proves it, calculating real ROI, and recommending better cards for your spend — depends on a live transaction feed. Without it you'd be using a spreadsheet.

From your wallet → Add card → pick your issuer → select benefits → in the final step a secure Plaid window opens where you log in directly with your issuer credentials (MFA supported). After approving read-only access, the card is saved to your wallet. You cannot finish adding a card without completing this step.

Perqt only pulls what's needed: card metadata (issuer, product, last 4) and transaction history (merchant, amount, date, category, status). We do NOT pull your password, full card number, CVV, deposit balances, transfers, or statements. Access is strictly read-only — Perqt cannot move money or make purchases.

Question 4

How often does my data sync, and how much history do you pull?

On first link you'll usually see the last ~90 days of transactions right away. Plaid then backfills the rest of the history asynchronously — up to ~24 months per card — which can take anywhere from a few minutes to 24 hours to fully post, depending on your issuer. This is normal; the older months will appear automatically once Plaid finishes the historical pull. After that, every sync only fetches new or changed transactions. Syncing is automatic — when you open the app (throttled to once every 10 minutes per user), plus a daily background refresh at 03:00 UTC. You can force an immediate refresh from Settings → Connected Cards → "Sync all now".

How are card recommendations generated?

Perqt analyzes your real spending across all linked cards — categories, merchants, and dollar volume — then scores cards from our catalog by projected annual rewards based on YOUR spend. Recommendations show estimated upside in dollars, not generic "best card" lists.

Why don't I see my no-annual-fee card in your catalog?

By design. Perqt is built for people carrying rewards cards worth tracking — premium annual-fee cards (Amex, Chase, Capital One, Citi, Bank of America, U.S. Bank, Wells Fargo) plus the Coinbase One Card, the one fintech/crypto card we can automate today. Plain no-annual-fee cash-back cards aren't in the catalog because they don't need the kind of math, reminders, and ROI tracking Perqt provides. If you're shopping for a fee-free everyday card with no rewards to manage, you're better served by a general cash-back comparison site.

Does Perqt track crypto and fintech cards like Apple Card, Gemini, Coinbase, and Fold?

The Coinbase One Card and the Gemini Credit Card — both connect through Plaid, so linking them is the same one-click flow as any Chase or Amex card. Apple Card (Goldman blocks aggregators) and Fold have no Plaid support and no public API, so tracking them would mean manually logging every transaction, which breaks the point of Perqt. When those issuers open up (or when we ship secure inbox parsing), we'll bring them back. Perqt values Bitcoin rewards in dollars alongside every points/miles card so you can finally compare them apples-to-apples.

What is Ask Perqt (the AI chat)?

Ask Perqt is an in-app AI assistant grounded in your wallet. It can answer questions about your cards ("Am I getting value from my Sapphire Reserve?"), surface unused benefits ("What expires this month?"), compare options ("Should I add the Amex Gold?"), and — with your one-click approval — log a redemption or snooze a reminder for you. It never moves money or makes purchases, and only sees the wallet data already in your account. Free includes 3 messages per month; all paid plans (Starter, Plus, Pro) include unlimited chat.

Does Ask Perqt remember me across conversations?

Yes. Ask Perqt carries context forward automatically — you don't need to reopen old threads to preserve continuity. After each chat, the assistant updates a compact private memory about you (travel plans, redemption goals, cards you're evaluating, preferences like preferred airlines or cabin class, etc.) and injects it into every future conversation. That's why there's no chat history sidebar: start a fresh chat any time and Perqt already knows the durable facts about you. Transient wallet data (current balances, fees, benefit amounts) is pulled live from your account each turn, so it's always up to date. Your memory is private to your account and used only to personalize your own chats.

It's a one-tap shortcut for figuring out which card to use, without signing in. Copy a merchant name or a URL anywhere on your phone — "Costco", an Uber receipt, a restaurant link from iMessage — then tap the chip. Perqt reads what's on your clipboard, classifies it into a spend category (dining, groceries, gas, travel, hotels, transit, warehouse clubs, and more), and jumps you straight to the matching Best-card-for page.

Privacy: we only read your clipboard the moment you tap, never in the background, and the text never leaves your browser — the keyword match runs locally. On iOS Safari you may see a one-time "Allow paste" prompt the first time you use it.

If the text doesn't match a category we have a page for, we show you what we read and link you to the full category index so you can pick manually. You can dismiss the chip permanently with the × — that choice is remembered per browser.

Open Amazon, a restaurant page, an Uber receipt — anywhere with a Share button — pick Perqt, and we open the Best-card-for page for that merchant automatically. It's the same brain as the Paste & Go chip, but one tap instead of copy-then-paste. If we can't classify what you shared, we drop you on the category index so you can pick manually.

Is the browser extension the same as “Install & Share from any site”?

No — they're two different tools that solve the same problem on different devices.

• Browser extension (desktop only): install Perqt into Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, or Opera on your computer. As you browse a merchant's site, the toolbar icon shows the best card in your wallet for that checkout — no copying, no sharing. Phones and tablets don't support browser extensions, so this is desktop-only. Get it at /extension.

• Install & Share (mobile only): add Perqt to your iPhone or Android home screen once. From then on, Perqt appears in the system Share sheet on any website — tap Share → Perqt and we open the best-card answer for your wallet. Setup lives on /find-best-card.

How is the “Value” shown for each benefit calculated?

The Value field is an AI-generated estimate of what a typical redemption of that benefit is worth per cycle, based on the benefit description, partner program, and common redemption patterns. It's a directional reference, not a guarantee — your actual value may be higher or lower depending on how you redeem. Treat it as a starting point and adjust to your own usage.

What is “Redeemed Benefits YTD”?

Real dollars you've actually captured from Jan 1 through today. It includes: (1) statement credits you've marked redeemed against a benefit (e.g. $200 airline fee credit, $300 travel credit), and (2) issuer-targeted offer credits detected on linked transactions (Amex Offers, Chase Offers, BankAmeriDeals, etc.). It does NOT include the estimated dollar value of points, miles, or cash back earned on spending — that estimated value is added separately inside Net Value YTD. Think of Redeemed Benefits YTD as the hard-money credits already in your pocket; Net Value YTD is that plus estimated rewards minus annual fees.

How do pending charges, refunds, and returns affect my numbers?

Perqt counts posted transactions only. Pending charges are excluded from spend totals, welcome-offer progress, and benefit matching — a charge starts counting once your bank posts it, so a number can move a day or two after you swipe. When a pending charge posts, Perqt replaces the pending copy instead of counting it twice, and if your bank later removes or corrects a transaction, Perqt removes or updates it on the next sync. Refunds, returns, and credits are netted against your spend and reduce welcome-offer progress, because that's how issuers count them too. Where Perqt can't tell whether a specific credit was reversed, it shows that as unknown rather than guessing a number.

How is ROI calculated?

One definition everywhere: ROI = (Redeemed Benefits YTD + estimated dollar value of points/miles/cash back earned − full annual fees) ÷ full annual fees. Net Value YTD is the same numerator in dollars, summed from Jan 1 → today across every linked card. Projected ROI (FY) forecasts the full year using the same components — published benefit values plus the YTD points/miles value annualized (scaled from Jan 1 → today to a full year) — so the YTD and FY tiles tell one consistent story. Welcome bonuses count only in year one; shared benefits like Priority Pass are counted on a single card.

How are points, miles, and cash back included in ROI?

Each transaction is matched to that card's best earning rate (e.g. 3× dining on Sapphire Reserve, 4× groceries on Amex Gold, 2% on Citi Double Cash). Points and miles are converted to dollars using fixed, industry-blended valuations applied the same for every user — e.g. Chase UR ≈ 2.05¢, Amex MR ≈ 2.0¢, Citi ThankYou ≈ 1.8¢, Capital One ≈ 1.85¢, Delta SkyMiles ≈ 1.19¢, United ≈ 1.35¢, Hyatt ≈ 1.7¢, Marriott ≈ 0.84¢, Hilton ≈ 0.6¢. Cash back is already in dollars. This lets reward-heavy cards (CSR, Gold, Venture X, Bilt) compare apples-to-apples with credit-heavy cards.

What are the limitations of the points estimate?

Conservative by design — we'd rather understate earnings than promise upside you may not capture:

• A newly-linked card shows $0 in this view until its first Plaid sync completes (usually a few minutes).
• Prior-year recaps apply the same multipliers × cents-per-point valuation to historical transactions, so prior-year points value is honest only for periods where Plaid was already linked AND the card was already open — earlier years will under-report.
• Valuations and merchant overrides are applied as of today. If you change a cents-per-point value or a category override, historical recaps recompute too (we don't snapshot prior valuations).
• Rotating 5× categories that require quarterly activation (Discover It, Freedom Flex) earn at the default rate.
• Transfer-partner upside isn't modeled (a 100K MR → ANA business seat at 5¢+ uses the ~2¢ blended rate).
• Welcome bonuses are tracked separately and don't roll into ongoing earnings.
• Mis-categorized merchants can hit the wrong multiplier.
• Points already in your loyalty account before linking aren't counted.

Question 21

What about Amex/Chase/BoA targeted merchant offers?

Accepted Answer

Issuers don't expose targeted offers via API, so Perqt detects them retroactively from your transaction feed. When you activate an offer in your issuer's app and spend at the merchant, the credit posts as a separate line — Perqt picks it up, categorizes it under the right program, and rolls the dollars into that card's Net Value and ROI. We intentionally don't include them in Projected ROI or card recommendations (we can't promise future targeted offers). Tip: open your issuer's app every couple weeks and add relevant offers — Perqt automatically detects credits that post to your linked transaction feed.

How does Perqt's AI decide a benefit was actually used?

Accepted Answer

Perqt's matching engine scores every transaction against your benefit rules — merchant identity, amount, benefit period, and remaining cap. When all of that evidence lines up, the credit is auto-confirmed and counted toward your card value with no action from you.

Some benefits never touch your card at all — a Priority Pass lounge visit is billed to the lounge network, a companion certificate or insurance claim leaves no transaction. Perqt deliberately keeps those out of your totals until they're recorded, because counting a benefit we can't prove would make your card value wrong. Every redemption keeps its source in your history, and as Perqt expands deterministic matching, more benefits flip to fully automatic on their own.

Which benefits does the AI auto-confirm today?

Accepted Answer

A small, growing set of benefits auto-confirm today — the ones Perqt can match with certainty from a transaction alone: Uber Cash, Lyft, Resy, Grubhub, Seamless, Disney+, Peacock credits, and the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant dining credit. For the rest — including Saks, Dell, airline incidentals, hotel/travel credits, TSA PreCheck/Global Entry/CLEAR, and most streaming credits — the transaction evidence isn't yet conclusive enough to auto-confirm, so Perqt surfaces the match and counts it once it's recorded. Those count toward your card value exactly like auto-confirmed ones, and the auto-confirm list grows as our matching rules expand.

Elite status benefits (Marriott Bonvoy Gold, Hilton Honors Gold, Hertz Five Star, National Emerald Executive, Leaders Club Sterling, etc.) are auto-credited the moment the card is in your wallet — no logging required. Perqt does not connect to or read data from your airline, hotel, or car-rental loyalty accounts. This calculation assumes standard complimentary status is active based on published cardmember benefits — it is not a verification of your account status with the loyalty program. Confirm your actual status directly with the loyalty program.

Log manually from Quick Log — these never hit your card: Priority Pass lounge visits, Centurion/Sky Club/United Club access, Amex FHR room upgrades and amenity credits, and insurance claims (cell phone, trip delay, baggage, rental car, purchase protection). Each logged use counts toward your annual-fee offset.

How does Perqt value hotel and car-rental elite status?

Accepted Answer

Auto-credited at full published value, once per card year, with zero action from you. If your card grants Marriott Bonvoy Gold ($100), Hilton Honors Gold, Hertz Five Star, National Emerald Executive, Leaders Club Sterling, or any other elite status, Perqt assumes you have it the moment the card is in your wallet — because you do. There's no activation step, no visit to log, no expiration inside the card year. The dollar value flows straight into your card's Net Value and ROI. When two cards in your wallet grant the same status (e.g. Marriott Gold on both Amex Platinum and Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant), Perqt credits only one card so the value isn't double-counted.

How does Perqt value lounge access?

Accepted Answer

Per visit, not per year. Every lounge benefit shows $0 estimated annual value until you actually log a visit — because a lounge membership is only worth what you use.

When you log a visit from Quick Log, Perqt credits your card:

• $50 per visit for Priority Pass, LoungeKey, and Plaza Premium (network lounges).
• $100 per visit for issuer lounges (Centurion, Delta Sky Club, Admirals Club, United Club, Capital One Lounge, Sapphire Lounge, Escape Lounge, and the Global Lounge Collection).

There is no cap on visits. If you visit Centurion 40 times in a year, that's $4,000 of value counted toward your card's Net Value and ROI. We don't display a made-up annual estimate like "$469 Priority Pass Membership" because that number bears no relationship to what any individual user actually gets.

If two cards share a benefit (like Priority Pass), is it double-counted?

Accepted Answer

No. Perqt auto-dedupes benefits that can only realistically be used on one card at a time — Priority Pass, Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, CLEAR, cell phone protection, trip/baggage/rental car insurance, purchase protection, extended warranty, and shared hotel elite status. One card is picked as primary (highest published value); duplicates are zeroed out everywhere — dashboard Net Value, Projected ROI, calculator, and Quick Log. Log a usage on a sibling card to override the heuristic.

How can I verify matches are accurate?

Open any card's Transactions tab. Each transaction shows its match status and the AI's reasoning. Matches fall into three buckets: Matched (high confidence, auto-applied), Needs review (medium confidence — approve or reject; rejecting trains the matcher), and No match (correctly excluded). You can also cross-check each benefit's progress bar against the transactions listed beneath it.

Why do I need to link my bank during onboarding?

Linking your bank is what turns Perqt from a spreadsheet into an automatic benefit tracker. Without it, you'd have to log every Uber Cash credit, every dining purchase toward a welcome bonus, and every statement credit by hand. With it, Perqt watches transactions in the background, auto-confirms the benefits it can prove from a transaction alone, and flags the rest for one-tap 'Mark as redeemed' — so you actually capture the perks you're paying for. The connection is read-only through Plaid (used by Venmo, Robinhood, SoFi), encrypted in transit and at rest, and your banking password is never sent to Perqt.

What happens if I leave onboarding before finishing?

Your progress is saved at every step. If you close the tab, sign out, or pick "I'll finish later" on the bank-link step, you can sign back in any time and Perqt drops you right back where you left off. Nothing is deleted, and no charge is made — your account simply waits in onboarding until you complete it.

Can I use Perqt without linking my bank?

Bank linking is a required step to finish onboarding because nearly every Perqt feature — automatic benefit detection where transactions can prove it, welcome-bonus tracking, points-earned math, ROI, and personalized card recommendations — depends on real transaction data. You can manually log lounge visits, insurance claims, and other off-card benefits from Quick Log without ever spending on the card, but to get value from premium-card statement credits and bonus categories you'll want the link in place. If you'd rather not link a bank, you can leave onboarding and your account waits until you're ready.

What's the difference between the Personal / Business toggle in the header and the All filter on some pages?

Accepted Answer

They do two different jobs.

• The header toggle (Personal / Business) sets your global wallet mode — the identity Perqt is working in right now. It drives what Quick Log defaults to, which catalog Add Card shows, which cards count toward recommendations and ROI, and how analytics segment your activity. There's no "All" here on purpose: those actions need one definite wallet to act on.

• The per-page filter (Personal / Business / All) on surfaces like Dashboard, Reminders, AI Activity, and Recommendations is a view filter. It only changes what that page shows you and is remembered per page — so you can leave Reminders on "All" while keeping your global mode on Personal.

Picking Personal or Business on a page filter also updates the global toggle so the rest of the app follows. Picking "All" leaves the global mode untouched — it's purely a viewing choice.

Can I get benefit reminders on my own calendar (Google, Apple, Outlook)?

Accepted Answer

Yes — every reminder row has an Add to calendar button. Pick Google Calendar for a one-click prefilled event, or download an .ics file that works with Apple Calendar, Outlook, Fantastical, and any other iCal-compatible client. It's self-serve per benefit, so you choose which ones land on your calendar — no account connection, no OAuth, and Perqt never reads or writes to your calendar. Events include a built-in alert (3 days before expiring credits, 14 days before annual-fee renewals) so the reminder actually fires on your device. You'll still get the reminders inside Perqt and via email based on your preferences above; the calendar option is an extra layer for people who live in their calendar.

Question 33

How do I disconnect a card or delete my account?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect a card from your wallet → Disconnect card. Access is revoked instantly and that card's Plaid-sourced transaction history is deleted immediately. To delete your account entirely: Settings → Delete Account (or email contact@perqt.ai). Every issuer connection is revoked, all cards disconnected, and all personal data is removed within 30 days.

How does Perqt make money?

Two sources. (1) Paid subscriptions — Starter, Plus, and Pro — are our primary revenue and the reason the product exists for you, not advertisers. (2) Affiliate commissions — if you click an Apply link and are approved, the issuer or affiliate network may pay Perqt a one-time bounty. You never pay extra, and the card terms are identical to applying directly. See /disclosure for the full breakdown.

Do affiliate commissions affect which cards Perqt recommends?

Accepted Answer

No. Card suggestions come from your real spending, the benefits you actually use, and the rewards math of each card. Affiliate cards are not ranked higher. Non-affiliate cards are not hidden. Many cards in Perqt have no affiliate relationship at all — if a card is the right fit, you see it regardless of whether it pays us anything. Affiliate clicks pass an anonymous tracking ID only; your name, email, spending, and wallet contents are never sent to issuers.

What happens when my card expires and I get a new one?

Accepted Answer

Usually nothing at all. Perqt connects at the account level through Plaid, not to the plastic card number — so a routine expiration and reissue on the same account keeps syncing without any action from you. You never re-enter a card number in Perqt. If your issuer resets the aggregator connection during the reissue, you'll see a "Reconnection required" banner on that card in Settings → Connected Cards; tap Reconnect and log in once inside the secure Plaid window.

My card was replaced because of fraud. What do I need to do?

Accepted Answer

If the account number stayed the same, nothing — history and benefit tracking continue. If your bank closed the old account and opened a new one, or revoked aggregator access as part of the fraud response, Perqt flags the card as needing reconnection. Go to Settings → Connected Cards → Reconnect, authenticate with your bank in the Plaid window, and syncing resumes. If the bank issued a brand-new account, you may also see an "Add new accounts" prompt for that bank — authorize the new account, then disconnect the old card entry once it stops syncing.

Does my benefit usage and welcome-offer progress carry over to a replacement card?

Accepted Answer

When the replacement is on the same account, nothing changes — usage, caps, and welcome-offer progress keep counting on that card. When your bank opens a brand-new account for the same product, that account is a separate card entry in Perqt: it starts at zero used for the card year, and the old entry keeps every credit you already logged so nothing is deleted. Because the issuer's own credit caps usually follow the product for the calendar or card year — not the plastic — do this once after a replacement: open the new card entry, and log any credit you already used this year (Quick Log on the benefit). That keeps "remaining" honest instead of showing a full credit you can't actually claim again. If you're not sure whether your issuer reset a specific credit, Perqt will show it as unknown rather than guess — confirm with the issuer, then log it. Perqt never assumes a replacement reset your caps and never silently doubles your available credit.

What does "Reconnection required" mean and how do I fix it?

Accepted Answer

It means your bank asked for a fresh login — most often after a password change, new MFA device, an expiring consent, or a security event. Perqt pauses syncing for that card so it never shows stale numbers as if they were current. Fix it in under a minute: Settings → Connected Cards → Reconnect on the flagged card, log in inside the secure Plaid window, and Perqt backfills anything it missed. You never type your banking password into Perqt.

I opened another card with a bank I already linked. What do I do?

Accepted Answer

Perqt detects it. When your bank reports a new account on an existing connection, an "Add new accounts" prompt appears in Settings → Connected Cards — one tap authorizes the new account without relinking everything. Then add the card in your wallet and pick its benefits so Perqt can start matching transactions to credits.

What happens if I close or cancel a card?

Accepted Answer

Once the account is closed, the bank stops reporting it and syncing ends on its own. Disconnect it in Perqt when you're ready: your wallet → the card → Disconnect. That revokes Perqt's read-only access at the aggregator immediately, and that card's transaction history is purged within 30 days. Keep it connected until year-end if you want the final ROI verdict for the card year first.

I upgraded or downgraded my card to a different product. How do I update Perqt?

Accepted Answer

A product change means a different benefit set, so the card in your wallet needs to reflect the new product. Add the new product as a card, select its benefits, and complete the secure link; then disconnect the old card entry. Benefit periods and credit caps restart based on the new product's rules — Perqt won't carry old benefit progress onto a different product, because the credits themselves don't carry over.

My card is temporarily locked or frozen. Does Perqt break?

No. A card lock stops purchases, not reporting — Perqt keeps reading the account's existing transaction history and your dashboard stays accurate. If the bank also suspends the aggregator connection, you'll get the "Reconnection required" banner and can reconnect once the card is unlocked.

If I close a card or disconnect it, can Perqt keep the transaction history for spend analysis?

Right now, disconnecting a card deletes its Plaid-sourced transaction history immediately, and the card stops syncing. This is the default because Plaid's data-retention guidance says we should only keep consumer data as long as we have a current business need.

If you want historical analysis of a closed or inactive card, there is a product path we can build: mark the card as "Archived" instead of fully disconnected, keep its transaction history, and let Insights / Dashboard include it in historical spend views while hiding it from active recommendations. The card row would still show as disconnected, but the data would remain for pattern analysis.

If this matters to your users, I can implement it as a disconnect option such as "Keep historical data (archived)" vs "Delete history completely."

What happens when I cancel my plan?

From Settings → Billing, choose at end-of-term: (1) downgrade to Free — account stays open, paid features through term end, then move to Free (1 card). If you're over the Free limit, Perqt walks you through which card to keep; the others are removed at cutover. (2) Close my account — same timing, but at cutover your account and all data are permanently deleted. Until the term ends you can reinstate from the billing page and everything is preserved.

Can I cancel or downgrade an annual plan mid-term?

Annual plans are non-refundable and can't be cancelled or downgraded mid-term — only upgraded (we prorate the difference and keep your original end date). You can turn off auto-renew any time and choose what happens at the annual end date: downgrade to Free or close your account. Monthly plans can downgrade or cancel any time.

Card limits: Free 1, Starter 2, Plus up to 3, Pro 4+ (unlimited). When you downgrade to a tier with fewer cards, Perqt walks you through a forced selection — pick which cards to keep. The unselected cards stay fully usable until your billing term ends, then on cutover they're removed along with their transactions, redemptions, reminders, insights, and recommendations. Nothing is deleted up front. Up to 24 hours before renewal you can change your selection or cancel the scheduled downgrade entirely. Upgrading again before cutover automatically cancels any pending removals.

What happens if my payment fails?

You have 3 business days from the first failed attempt to update your payment method — after that, your account moves to Free and paid features pause until billing is restored.
